Fairstar Fjell receives DNV class certification

May 19 - The submersion test of Fairstar Heavy Transport's self-propelled semi-submersible vessel Fjell was successful and DNV has issued Certificates of Class enabling the ship to operate as a fully-certified semi-submersible heavy transport vessel.

Tests were completed on the stability of the ship and the control of the de-ballasting and re-ballasting and the Fjell has left Malta for Trapani, Sicily, to load, transport and launch a 7000-tonne chemical tanker. Immediately afterwards Fjell heads for Lobito, Angola where it will load a cargo of steel superstructure components for transport to the DSME yard in Okpo, Korea.
