GeoSea's divine delivery

GeoSea has taken delivery of the self-propelled jack-up vessel Apollo.

The vessel will join GeoSea’s fleet of dynamic positioning (DP) class, self-propelled jack-ups, which includes Innovation, Neptune, Thor, Sea Installer and Sea Challenger.

The vessel features lattice legs measuring 106.8 m, which allows the vessel to jack up in water depths of up to 70 m. It is equipped with an 800-tonne capacity leg-encircling crane and has a 2,000 sq m deck space, which has a load carrying capacity of 15 tonnes per sq m.

According to GeoSea, the vessel will be deployed by DEME Group’s subsidiary EverSea to provide services to the oil and gas industry, with a particular focus on the installation and decommissioning of platform facilities.

One of the vessel’s first projects includes a decommissioning project in the North Sea on behalf of Petrogras E&P Netherlands.

EverSea was awarded the contract by Petrogras for the decommissioning of the Q1 HALFWEG unmanned gas platform in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.

The scope of work includes the engineering, preparation, removal and disposal (EPRD) of the 500-tonne topside, including the four foundation legs.

Engineering works are already ongoing and the removal work is scheduled to take place at the end of this year.
