Merritts in power machinery move

March 4 - Kirkby, Nottinghamshire based Merritts Machinery Logistics has completed the delivery and installation of industrial power plant fan casings at the Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station.

In 2012, Merritts were contracted by Doosan Babcock Ltd to store over 150 pieces of power plant equipment, some of which weighed up to 40 tonnes and were 4.8 m wide, until they were required for installation at Ratcliffe-on-Soar.

The items were removed from Merritts' warehouses using Versa-Lift technology and placed onto four flatbed trailers, before being lashed securely to meet safe transportation standards - all in time for the arrival of the police escorts.

The cargo was then transported from Merritts' headquarters in Nottinghamshire to the power station with police escorts positioned in front of and behind the trailers. When the equipment arrived, the trailers were left at the station overnight before being unloaded the following day.
