SDV provides logistics for Eurocopter's X3 American tour

November 23 - Logistics provider SDV has handled the transportation of the Eurocopter X3 from France to the USA, as well as providing local logistics support during its recent Demo Tour.

The X3 was loaded at a French military base onto an AN-124 operated by Volga-Dnepr Airlines, before the giant cargo aircraft flew with its outsize load to Dallas Alliance Airport.

When the cargo had cleared US Customs, it was moved to a warehouse at the airport where the helicopter was reassembled and its operational readiness tested.

The X3's Demo Tour started at Grand Prairie, Texas, and finished with a flight over the Pentagon, in Washington DC.

Utilising the company's 24/7 AOG (aircraft on ground) experience, SDV said it had to be able to ship emergency spare parts at all times from Europe to the prototype's flight points.
