TTS avoids diversions in diverter move

April 27 - UAE based heavy lift and transport specialist TTS International has assisted with the loading and transport of three 100-tonne diverter units within Jebel Ali Free Zone for the Mirfa independent water and power plant (IWPP) in Abu Dhabi.

On behalf of freight forwarder AMI Middle East, TTS helped with the loading of each of the out-of-gauge units onto a Nicolas trailer in a six-axle, four-file configuration at the fabricator's yard.

As well as the loading, the scope of TTS' work included the transport of the diverters - each of which had the dimensions 10.8 m x 9.25 m x 10.1 m - from the manufacturing facility to the quayside, before placing the units onto stools for temporary storage.

Due to ongoing roadworks within Jebel Ali Free Zone, TTS explained that it had to transport the huge units via some of the back roads, in order to avoid diversions, signs, lamp posts and other obstacles.

Further operations, including the load-out onto a barge, sea transport, and overland transport to the site, were conducted by heavy lift specialist ALE. Under ALE's supervision, TTS also assisted with the loading of the units onto the barge.
