November 20 - In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, global broker Air Charter Service has been arranging aircraft charters to provide vital support to thousands of New Yorkers trying get their lives back to normal.

The company's office in New York has arranged two heavy lift charters for an electrical supplier in Texas to move emergency transformers to restore power to the Westchester area of the city, which was particularly badly hit following the storm.

The flights were on two Boeing B767Fs from Houston into the re-opened New York JFK Airport and the transformers provided enough electricity to get around half a million homes back up to power.

Immediately after the storm, Air Charter Service had also arranged a charter bringing in ready-to eat meals for New Yorkers that were unable to return to their devastated homes.

Richard Thompson , cargo director of ACS New York , commented: "Even though our office and staff were also heavily affected by the storm, we worked around the clock to help those even more in need."
