October 6 - Allport Cargo Services has appointed Charles McGurin as joint managing director, replacing Jerry Gray who is retiring in January 2015 and taking up a non-executive director position at the company.

McGurin will take up the post in December and will serve alongside Danny Clayton.

The appointment of McGurin sees him return to the company after 13 years, having previously spent several years in Allport's supply chain management team. He rejoins from DHL Global Forwarding.

Heath Zarin, chairman of Allport, explained that Gray will work closely with McGurin in order to support the transition.

As part of the restructure, in September 2015, sea freight divisional managing director Kevin Witmore will also retire from his day-to-day duties and will serve Allport as group consultant.
