May 19 - Almajdouie Logistics won a contract to handle the Customs clearance and transportation of 358-tonne cold boxes from the Jubail Port to the Sadara project site in Saudi Arabia.

The cold boxes, each of which had the dimensions 31.19 m x 13.9 m x 9.5 m, were manufactured by Linde Germany for its HyCO (hydrogen - carbon monoxide) and ammonia industrial gas plants in the premises of the Sadara project site.

The cargo was received from the vessel at Jubail Port using the ship's own gear, and was safely jacked down using specially designed beams and stools, before being loaded onto a 36-axle hydraulic trailer.

After Customs clearance had been obtained, the cold boxes were transported out of the port, which required the authorities to be consulted and, once permission was obtained, many fences and barricades removed en route.

Almajdouie had to also convince the Royal Commission to allow the cargo to be hauled to the final job site, removing several street lamps on the way.
