July 3 - Intermarine LLC has entered into a joint venture with Angolan company Transtar Transitario LDA to form Transmarine.

Luanda based Transtar Transitario and Intermarine will work together as partners in the ocean carriage of oil and gas equipment from worldwide origins to Angolan ports.

The JV meets all the legal requirements set out by the Angolan Ministry of Petroleum, said Intermarine.

Transmarine will allow Intermarine to offer its services to the partners of the national oil company of Angola, Sonangol, including operators, suppliers and EPC contractors.

Michael Dumas, chief financial officer at Intermarine, commented on the JV: " This was necessary to expand our existing West Africa liner services and will open opportunities for us to help customers in Europe, the Middle East and South America with their West African shipping needs."

"These expanding markets require a specialised transport carrier to address the needs of key African industries including oil and gas, energy, mining, and infrastructure," added John Bomer, vice president - Africa service.

The JV will also have access to Intermarine's industrial terminal in Houston, which the company claimed is the busiest project cargo terminal in the USA.
