April 15 - The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority (PRPA) reported its sixth consecutive year of cargo growth, with breakbulk and ro-ro cargoes increasing significantly.

In total, the Port of Philadelphia handled 6.09 million tonnes of cargo during 2015, up from 5.95 million tonnes in 2014.

In total, breakbulk tonnage was up 15.64 percent year-on-year. Ro-ro cargo tonnage increased 8.18 percent year-on-year to 231,016 tonnes.

"I'm very proud of this authority and the private terminal operators that work in conjunction with it," said PRPA chairman Gerard H. Sweeney. "Our effective public/private partnership, championed by Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf from the earliest days of his administration, has once again resulted in another year of cargo growth."
