Blue Water delivers to White Rock

November 22 - Blue Water Shipping has coordinated the first shipment of wind turbines for the White Rock wind farm in New South Wales from China to the Port of Newcastle in Australia.

Blue Water Shipping was awarded the transport contract earlier this year and HLPFI reported on July 7 that the company was beginning the delivery.

The first move involved the shipment of eight 2.5 MW turbines on board the multipurpose vessel Erna Oldendorff. At 59.5 m long the wind turbine blades were the largest to arrive in Australia to date, claimed Blue Water Shipping.

The company's project team coordinated the entire transport from Taicang in China to the wind farm site in Australia, including the 550 km overland delivery from the Port of Newcastle to Glen Innes.

The second and third shipments are expected to arrive this month, with another five deliveries scheduled.

Meanwhile, Blue Water Shipping coordinated the shipment of four ASD 3200 tug boats from Hong Kong to Brazil and Panama.

The tug boats, which weighed 700 tonnes each, were loaded on a Jumbo Shipping vessel. Blue Water Shipping's engineering department in Singapore designed customised cradles to ensure each tug was safely stowed.
