August 29 - The 850-tonne suction bucket jacket foundation has been lifted and placed in the seabed at DONG Energy's offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 1.

The 57 m high innovative suction bucket jacket foundation was developed so that offshore wind farms could be built farther from shore, in deeper waters and at lower costs, explained DONG.

The jacket was placed on top of suction jackets, before being lifted onboard the offshore construction jack-up vessel Pacific Orca, shipped to the offshore site and lowered into the seabed.

GeoSea completed the floating load out, transport and installation of the 850-tonne structure. SPT Offshore carried out suction works for the jacket's foundations.
