Boskalis vessels heading for scrap

Royal Boskalis Westminster has confirmed it will remove 11 of its “heavily loss-making" heavy transport vessels from service in the coming 12 months.

As HLPFI reported here, Boskalis plans to terminate its transport activities at the lower end of its offshore energy division. The company believes that this sector of the market has become commoditised and is structurally confronted with overcapacity.

Boskalis said that the older, closed-stern heavy transport vessels (types IIb and III) will likely be scrapped.
