March 11 - The Shanghai International Exposition Center (Intex) and Sheraton Shanghai Hongqiao Hotel are playing host to one of the most comprehensive cargo and logistics events of its kind, Breakbulk China 2013.

Breakbulk China 2013 is claimed to be the largest conference and exhibition in Asia covering the traditional breakbulk and project cargo sectors.

Running from March 12 to 15, the focus on the first two days will be on gaining knowledge through education and training. Lined up are concurrent events such as the PPG Project Forwarders Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management, a heavy lift technical workshop, and the Breakbulk China Education Day.

According to the organisers, Breakbulk China's targeted programming will ensure that participants develop skills and strategy to help do their job more effectively. The "workshops are commensurate with your experience level from entry-level Breakbulk Education Day for students and industry freshmen, to entry-intermediate level PPG Certificate in Project Forwarding, to intermediate-advanced level PLS Heavy Transport Workshop".

The two-day conference and exhibition begins on March 14, with the theme of the Executive Conference Programme being 'Targeting Sustainable Growth'. Among the topics to be deliberated upon by top panelists and speakers are the future of China's power generation development, the new MPV fleet, demystifying dockside cargo liability, enhancing the Chinese
supply chain, the impact of China's new growth model on breakbulk/project cargo, China's economic transformation under the new leadership, the price versus quality argument, and minimising delays at China's ports.

The organisers say that the conference programme will help address the strategic needs of today's traditional breakbulk and project cargo industry executives.

More than 130 exhibitors and sponsors, including specialised ocean carriers, freight forwarders, ports/terminals, logistics providers, ground transportation, heavy air, export packers, equipment companies and more, are participating in the exhibition, providing a great opportunity to "network and connect".
