April 5 - With effect from April 1, Carisbrooke Shipping's fleet of 17 multipurpose vessels - the 12,900 dwt and Vectis type ships - will be commercially managed by Zeaborn Chartering in Bremen, Germany.

While Zeaborn will provide breakbulk and multipurpose project expertise, Carisbrooke says it will continue to support the multipurpose fleet with its bulk cargo knowledge and customer portfolio.

"This is an exciting development during a challenging time for the industry," said Zeaborn chartering director Nicki Schumacher.

"We are looking forward to maximising earnings for the shipowners through our synergies with Carisbrooke, and to providing value-added solutions to cargo customers through our heavy lift and project cargo expertise."

In September 2015, Zeaborn appointed Schumacher and Matthias Kremser to its chartering team in order to help grow its commercial management activities. Both Schumacher and Kremser joined Zeaborn after assisting the expansion of Carisbrooke's commercial management capabilities in Bremen.

The vessels that will fall under Zeaborn's commercial management include four 8,500 dwt Vectis type vessels with two 80-tonne capacity cranes; four 10,000 dwt Vectis type vessels, also featuring two 80-tonne capacity cranes; and nine 12,900 dwt ships.

Carisbrooke's fleet currently comprises of 65 ships.
