November 17 - Global Boat Shipping (GBS), part of the EMS-Fehn-Group, has loaded a 210-ton (190.5-tonne) catamaran onboard Harren & Partner's multipurpose vessel Palabora, at the Port of Emden, Germany.

The Halunder Jet, owned by FRS Helgoline, measures 51 m in length and will be transported to Victoria, Canada.

"Our long-standing experience in yacht transports helped us immensely in the preparations for the special transport," says Michel Wirt, managing director of GBS. "We carefully computed how to lift the cat with the two ship cranes. And we used divers to make sure the slings were placed correctly - a method we use routinely when loading yachts."

GBS constructed a lifting mechanism consisting of two cross beams, customised for the shape of the hull, to lift and load the vessel.

According to GBS, the transport from Germany to Canada will take approximately 30 days, and upon arrival the Halunder Jet will be used as a commuter vessel in the Seattle, USA area.
