May 10 - Celtic Shipping Agencies was recently contracted by GE Wind to handle wind turbine components shipped from Turkey to Ireland.

Building on a successful project performed via the Irish Port of Killybegs, GE chose Celtic to handle cargoes in the Port of Waterford.

The multipurpose vessel Lifter was loaded with 18 blades, each measuring 52 m long, at Izmir, Turkey. Celtic ensured the components were safely discharged at the Irish gateway.

A second vessel, Clipper New York, called at Waterford from China loaded with 18 tower sectors weighing up to 66 tonnes.

The equipment is currently being forwarded to the final project site.

Celtic Shipping Agencies is a member of the XL Projects Network, representing Ireland.
