July 31 - Two key co-hosted freight industry conferences with great relevance to high and heavy project operations are to be held at the World Trade Centre, Barcelona at the end of October.

The ninth Freighters World Conference, from October 25 to 27, will be held at the same time and in the same venue as the WCA Family of Logistic Networks Sino-European Freight Forwarders Conference. Networking opportunities between attendees of both events will be available at a co-hosted cocktail reception on the first evening of the meeting.

The Freighters conference will look at topics such as the future of freighters and heavylift air cargo transportation for the oil and gas industries. A key session looks at how important project forwarding is for freighter operators. Chaired by Dan March, editorial director of organiser Air Cargo Media, speakers such as Jawad Kamel, president and CEO, Advance International Transport and Matthias Frey, head of airfreight, Panalpina will study the issues arising from the business that freight forwarders generate for main deck heavy lift operators.

Industry speakers will include Maxim Klushin, head of Munich office, Polet Airlines; Hjoerdis Stahl, executive vice-president Cargo, Luxair Cargo; and Volker Dunkake, head of global sales and services, Lufthansa Cargo Charter.

The Sino-European Freight Forwarders Conference, to be held October 25-28, 2009, is organised jointly by WCA Family of Logistic Networks and the China International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFA), under the leadership of the Ministry of Commerce of China. It is sponsored by the Port of Barcelona.

In a new development for 2009, organisers have refined the face-to-face networking meeting facility to enable delegates to arrange meetings with potential partners before travelling to the conference. More than 15,000 such meetings are expected to take place during the conference.
