Crane crosses Broekman terminal

June 16 - A large container crane is currently being loaded out from the Broekman Logistics Breakbulk Terminal in the Waalhaven, Rotterdam.

The Liebherr crane, which weighs 700 tonnes and measures over 50 m high, was built up by heavy lift specialist Sarens with the assistance of Broekman Project Services.

It will eventually be delivered to APM Terminals at the Maasvlakte II facility in the Port of Rotterdam.

The crane arrived at the Broekman terminal on an oceangoing vessel and was assembled over the course of nine weeks at the terminal. After being transported to the quay, the crane will be lifted onto a barge and towed towards the Maasvlakte II.

Jos Masselink, general manager of Broekman Project Services, explained that many adjustments had to be made to transport the crane to the water's edge. The transport requires the use of a total of 36 axle lines of SPMT.
