Elbe Project Cargo Line launched

Sächsische Binnenhäfen Oberelbe, in cooperation with Deutsche Binnenreederei, launched the Elbe Project Cargo Line (EPCL) – a liner service for oversize and heavy project cargoes.

Deutsche Binnenreederei will supply several push barges, which will call at six Sächsische Binnenhäfen Oberelbe ports on the Elbe River.

With a draught of 1.2 m, the barges will transport project cargoes between the inland ports of Lovosice, Decin, Dresden, Riesa, Torgau and Rosslau, as well as the seaports of Hamburg and Cuxhaven.

Sächsische Binnenhäfen Oberelbe said that Dresden, its main hub for project cargo shipments, can handle goods weighing up to 600 tonnes.
