December 15 - Derwent Shipping & Logistics Ltd, based in Selby, UK, recently used a hydraulic lifting system to move three heater coils into position outside a customer's workshop, enabling cranes to access the coils for lifting (pictured below).

Derwent, formed just two years ago, by husband and wife team Gary and Liz Boden, was involved in project managing the complete movement - from preparing CAD drawings for the customer to demonstrate the planned operation, to being present on-site for all three days of the project.

The company, which offers a full service, from crane hire and specialist lifting services, through to national and international multimodal movements, has also project managed a cross trade transportation of two generators and two turbines totalling 430 tonnes from Friedeburg to Bremerhaven, Germany (pictured below).

Prior to establishing Derwent, Gary Boden had worked for Hewden Stuart Crane Hire in the heavy lift department,Collett TransportLifting Gear Hire (megalift division), and ALS in the company's Abnormal Loads and Special Projects departments.

Since establishing the company, Boden has also been sub contracted as a project manager, to DHL Industrial Projects working on two of its factory relocation projects.

He says: "Our experience is firmly rooted in abnormal loads and that's an area in which Derwent Shipping will focus its service provision."
