BigLift Baffin has delivered a crane boom and luffing frame from the Huisman wharf in Xiamen, China, to Singapore. The unit will be installed on Heerema Marine Contractor's new semi-submersible crane vessel, Sleipnir.

HLPFI reported in October 2017 that BigLift Shipping would end its involvement with Rolldock Shipping in the joint venture BigRoll Shipping, effective January 1, 2018. BigRoll Shipping operated four MC-class vessels, two of which have now been integrated into the BigLift fleet, sailing as BigLift Barentsz and BigLift Baffin.

This is the first project for BigLift Baffin since its integration into the BigLift fleet. March will see the first voyage of sister vessel BigLift Barentsz in the BigLift livery, when the module carrier loads a  shipment of container cranes for a Japanese client.

BigLift said the addition of two wide deck carriers to the fleet has increased its heavy transport capabilities significantly. Looking ahead the company intends to focus on developments in the renewable energy and LNG markets, such as the transportation of jackets and new generation monopiles, as well as large modules for LNG projects.

BigLift said it is also looking towards opportunities in a rebalancing oil and gas segment, as well as port development and expansion projects.
