November 22 - The international logistics business continues to put its services to humanitarian use in the Philippines, supporting the aid efforts in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.

Volga-Dnepr's IL-76TD-90VD freighter aircraft has landed in Lapu-Lapu airport carrying humanitarian supplies from Denmark and Sweden, including generators, tents, food, mobile camps for relief worker, motor transport and water purifiers.

Saudia Cargo organised a charter on behalf of Chapman Freeborn, which flew from Dubai World Central Airport to Cebu Airport in the Philippines, delivering tents, kitchen equipment and hygiene kits to the typhoon-ravaged country.

IAG Cargo has also flown a Boeing 747 freighter with a 120-tonne capacity from Stanstead to Cebu, carrying aid from Oxfam, Save the Children, The Reina Sofia Foundation and UNICEF to provide relief to the worst affected regions of the Philippines.

Further to the news item posted by HLPFI on November 12, 2013, Air Charter Service (ACS) chartered an Antonov 12 aircraft, which was carrying almost 10 tonnes of vital aid for the Belgian Foreign Ministry, to land in the devastated city of Tacloban. ACS has now based its AN-12 in the Philippines to trans-ship the vital aid where it is needed most.

In addition to the six flights that Air Partner has already arranged to the Philippines, reported by HLPFI on November 13, 2013, the company has flown an AN-124 from Europe to Cebu to transport 85 tonnes of ground handling equipment.

The NYK Group has announced that it will donate USD100,000 through the NYK-TDG Friendship Foundation and provide free transport of supplies to those directly affected by the typhoon. In response to a request from the JPF, the company has also arranged the free ocean transport of 1,000 tents from Japan to the Philippines.

Cargolux Airlines International has flown two 747 freighters carrying supplies from various humanitarian aid organisations to Manila.

MOL Group's local partner, Magsaysay MOL Marine (MMM) has also held a charity event to support those afflicted by the typhoon.
