December 17 - HAROPA - a French grouping of ports from Le Havre, Rouen and Paris - has been named 'Port of the Year' by association BP2S - the French Bureau for Promotion of Short Sea Shipping and Intermodality.

Short sea services accounted for 83 percent of HAROPA's total tonnage in 2011, due primarily to regular general cargo services that link Rouen with Finland, Ireland and Morocco on weekly basis.

Le Havre has over 20 shipping lines offering containerised and ro-ro services across Europe and the whole of the Mediterranean.

The latest accolade comes just two weeks after HAROPA won the International Bulk Journal award for 'World's Best Dry Bulk Port 2012'.
