Mammoet has erected a Konecranes Goliath crane in the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.

The Dutch firm used a Terex CC6800 crawler crane and a Liebherr LR11000 to erect the two legs of the Konecranes Goliath, weighing 540 tons (490 tonnes) and 700 tons (635 tonnes).

In planning the lift, Mammoet decided to use the crane's legs as a gantry on which to raise the main girder.

To further increase efficiency and safety on the lift, Mammoet placed two 500-ton (454-tonne) crawler cranes on each side of the legs, and used strand jacks to lift the Goliath's 2,500-ton (2,268-tonne) main girder into position.

The Goliath crane, with a capacity of 1,200 tons (1,089 tonnes), a height of 120 m and a span of 154 m, will aid the shipyard in fulfilling orders for increasingly large cruise ships.
