March 9 - Gebrüder Weiss has acquired the subsidiary branches of freight forwarding company Brockmüller in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

With its new location in southern Kazakhstan, Gebrüder Weiss says that it is closing a geographical gap between Europe and China, as well as strengthening its own network in Central Asia.

The two branches will now be operated as the Gebrüder Weiss Kazakhstan location. The 12 employees at the location have extensive experience in national and international project cargo business, as well as regional cargo transport, said Gebrüder Weiss.

"The new location will function as a central hub for the regions around the Caspian Sea and as a link between Europe, the CIS countries and, in particular, China," said Thomas Moser, director and regional manager, southeast Europe/CIS at Gebrüder Weiss.

The company already has its own branches in Georgia, Russia, Turkey and China and offers weekly groupage services to Turkmenistan.
