November 12 - Prime Cargo has handled a charter of oil and gas equipment, totalling 271.7 tonnes, from Norway to Korea.

Kim Eckerman of Prime Cargo's projects department explained the scope of the company's work: "The operation consisted of pre-carriage by trucks and barge, loading, lashing, securing and welding of the cargo, and survey reports, as well as sea freight to the final destination.

According to Eckerman, the most challenging part of the project was the pre-carriage to the quay of two hydrarackers, each of which weighed 50 tonnes and had the dimensions 44 m x 2.05 m x 2.6 m; and two vertical pipe rackers weighing 40.32 tonnes each and measuring 44.3 m x 2.7 m x 2.45 m.

Among the various other cargo was an 29.64-tonne upper track measuring 21.5 m x 4 m x 4.65 m, which was too big for the road tunnel and had to be transported by barge instead.

The cargo was shipped on a BBC Chartering vessel.

Prime Cargo is a member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN) in Norway.
