June 19 - IAG Cargo has transported a large shipment of high-value specialist security equipment from across its global network for use at the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013.
Approximately 46 tonnes of equipment was shipped from the IAG hubs at London Heathrow International and Madrid-Barajas airports to Rio de Janeiro, using both British Airways and Iberia aircraft.
The equipment included body scanners and arch X-ray machines.
The FIFA Confederations Cup is held June 15-30, 2013 and brings together eight international football teams and an anticipated 826,000 spectators. The event acts as a dress rehearsal for the FIFA World Cup, which takes place in Brazil during summer 2014.
