March 27 - South African headquartered logistics specialist Imperial Logistics Group has stepped in to help with efforts to conserve the Southern Ground Hornbill - an endangered species of bird resident in the country.

The company's subsidiary Imperial Truck Rental donated a vehicle to the Mabula Ground Hornbill Project during its busiest time of the year. The project harvests and transports Ground Hornbill chicks from all around South Africa and hand-rears them in bespoke facilities, before reintroducing them to the wild.

According to Johnny Wright, managing director, Imperial Truck Rental, the company will continue to support the project moving forward: "We are delighted to be assisting such a worthwhile initiative … these really are very special birds."

Lucy Kemp, project manager, Mabula Ground Hornbill Project, added that the vehicle allowed its teams to monitor breeding success around South Africa and to transport chicks back to the rearing facilities. "It was a godsend," she exclaimed.

Further information with regard to the conservation project can be found here.
