August 27 - Commencing in September, "K" Line's new ro-ro service will transport cargoes from the Japanese port of Tokuyama-Kudamatsu to Teesport on the northeast coast of the UK.

The new service will deploy "K" Line's new 75,216 dwt and 200 m long ro-ro vessels, each of which have a capacity of 7,500 units.

The ro-ro service will allow exporters of project cargo to connect directly from Teesport with the Japanese shipping line's global network, said UK port operator PD Ports.

"K" Line chose to call at Teesport due to its excellent infrastructure and proximity to important northeast markets, said a company representative.
