August 8 - Ethiopian Shipping Lines has taken delivery of a new 28,000 dwt multipurpose vessel, Jigjiga.

The vessel will mostly carry breakbulk and general cargo. It measures 166.5 m long, has a beam of 27.4 m and a capacity of 1,735 teu.
 
Jigjiga is the fifth vessel of its class to have been delivered by the Chinese Shandong Huanghai Shipyard.
 
Jigjiga is named after a small city in Eastern Ethiopia. The four other ships delivered to Ethiopian Shipping Lines are named Finfine, Assosa, Gambella and Harar. The capacity is deployed on the company's South East Asia - Red Sea service.
 
Two further sisterships, Mekelle and Semera, are scheduled for delivery in August and October 2013.
