March 8 - The Korean Register of Shipping (KR) has formally opened a brand new education and training centre dedicated to international shipping and shipbuilding professionals.

Located in Busan, South Korea, the four-storey, 5,500 sq m facility features 13 lecture halls and seminar rooms and will have the capacity to train approximately 100 students.

The new centre is located in the grounds of KR's new headquarters.

"I take immense pleasure and pride in the fact that KR is now fully ready to contribute to the development and growth of the maritime industry. The opening of this new facility cements our commitment to ongoing training and emphasises the importance we place on continuous education," commented Oh Kong-gyun, chairman and ceo of KR at the opening of the new training facility.
