December 4 - The board of Lerwick Port Authority is strengthening its senior management team in light of the continuing activity and development at the Scottish harbour.

Harbour master, Calum Grains, has been appointed to the board in the position of harbour master and deputy chief executive, with immediate effect; while previous deputy chief executive, Victor Sandison, has been promoted to senior commercial executive.

The port authority will begin the recruitment process for the new position of commercial director in the new year.

The move to strengthen the team follows an external organisational review, which looked particularly at the staff resource required to sustain the high level of activity in all areas of the harbour's operation.
