February 9 - As reported by on the HLPFI website on February 5th, the port of Vancouver USA anticipates a return to growth in 2010 following a year in which an increase in business from the wind energy industry helped offset losses elsewhere in 2009.

The arrival last year of a second Liebherr-Werk Nenzing LHM 500 mobile harbour crane, with a lifting capacity of 208 tonnes or 416 tonnes in tandem operation through Sycratronic technology, allowed the west coast port to sharply increase the volume of wind energy component imports through the port, reports Larry Paulson, executive director of the port. The total of these jumped from just 362 items in 2008 to 2,700 pieces last year, more than a seven-fold increase.
