January 28 - Allegiance Crane recently mobilised its Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1 mobile crane to Gulfstream Park in Florida to erect a giant Pegasus statue.

The statue measured 33 m high and 63 m long. A 400-tonne lift capacity LTM 1400-7.1 was tasked with the installation of the various bronze components. Stark Ingenieure, an engineering agency based in Ludwigsburg (Germany) and Miami, which specialises in special support structures and one-off engineering projects, was charged with developing the technical design, planning the erection work and producing the engineering solutions required for the statue.

The LTM 1400-7.1 was equipped with Y-guying and full ballast for the project. The crane set-up was completed entirely by self-assembly. The left wing of the Pegasus was the heaviest single component, weighing in at 58 tonnes.

"The fantastic support from Liebherr in advance enabled us to plan all the hoists precisely. The service was really great", says Michael Stark, owner of Stark Ingenieure. He explained that his team was able to simulate all the processes in advance using 3-D data from the LTM 1400-7.1, so they could find the best way of executing the lifts.
