November 6 - Netherlands headquartered heavy lift and transportation specialist Mammoet helped transport six coke drums for the Chevron El Segundo Refinery in El Segundo, California USA.

The new coke drums that measured 30.48 m (100 ft) in length, 8.53 m (28 ft) in diameter and weighed almost 250 tonnes each, travelled 7,330 miles from their fabrication site in Spain to the Port of Los Angeles. The units were transhipped two at a time over the course of three weeks by river barge to the Redondo King Harbor Marina.

Each drum was discharged from the barge at the harbour using 12 axle-lines of Scheuerle SPMTs; the drums were transported to a staging area located near the El Segundo Refinery on the heavy-duty transporters.

The new drums have been installed at the refinery, replacing older equipment coming close to the end of its useful life and ensuring continued operations at the plant.
