June 28 - A record for the heaviest consignment to arrive at Musaffah Port, one of the key ports operated and managed by Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT), has been set with the recent arrival of two HP absorbers from Italy that weighed more than 2,600 tonnes.

ADT completed the unloading of two heavyweight HP absorbers (pictured below), weighing 1,342 and 1,275 tonnes respectively, from the Lone, a heavy lift vessel belonging to the Germany-based heavy lift shipping line SAL.

Salmeen Obaid Al Ameri, commercial director at ADT, said: "By successfully handling this project cargo, ADT is sending a strong message to the community and industry alike that its diversified services and ports have the ability to cater to the needs of both local and international shipping companies. We look forward to handling and receiving many more heavy lift shipments in the future.

"As we gear up to open Khalifa Port in the 4th quarter of 2012, we are confident that this flagship project, along with the three other ports managed and operated by ADT - Mina ZayedFree Port and Musaffah Port - will redefine the port industry in the region whilst offering our customers great benefits and advantages."

Musaffah Port is strategically located in the heart of Abu Dhabi's industrial area. With a quay length of 342 m, the port enjoys a new deep draft channel of 9 m.
