April 12 - It has been a year of setting numerous records for Krishnapatnam Port in only its second year of operations, with cargo throughput of 16.1 million tonnes for the last financial year compared to 8.2 million tonnes in the previous year.
The port handled 407 vessels during the year compared to 206 vessels in the previous financial year.
The port authority says that KPCL is a multi purpose port and project cargoes are an important part of the cargo mix.
The port has set an achievable target of 35 million tonnes of cargo to be handled for the current financial year.
