WWPC gathers in Amsterdam

Almost 100 delegates from across the world attended the Worldwide Project Consortium's (WWPC) 18th membership conference at the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam from May 23-25.

Sponsored by Rickmers-Line, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Ocean, Volga-Dnepr and the Port of Amsterdam, the conference was hosted by local Dutch network member Steder Group.

Rob de Korte, managing director of Steder Group, also acted as auctioneer for the network's annual benefit auction, which was this year in support of the Princess Maxima Centre for pediatric oncology in Utrecht.

Conference delegates raised an impressive USD32,000 for the charity by bidding on auction items that were donated by sponsors, as well as making individual cash donations.

Sponsor and new member presentations contributed to an interesting two-day conference, including one-on-one meetings as well as a fantastic evening organised by Steder Group on May 24.

By majority vote, the network members re-elected Dirk Roethig (LS Cargo, Germany), Ahmed Dahshan (Khedivial Marine Logistics, Egypt), Willy Hoffmann (BNSF Logistics, USA) and Elmer Sarmiento (Royal Cargo, Philippines) to the WWPC's board of advisors for a further 12-month term.

The end of the conference also saw the delegates decide to hold the network's 19th membership conference in Muscat, Oman in February 2019, sponsored by new local member Khimji Ramdas Shipping.
