XLP AGM welcomes record number of attendees

Over 140 delegates from around the world have gathered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for the XLProjects (XLP) network’s 6th annual general meeting (AGM).

The event kicked off with a welcome reception on the 23rd floor of the impressive Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers, before guests began two days of presentations and one-on-one meetings.

Daniel Bateman, director of the Advanced International Networks (AIN) group - which manages the XLProjects network - began with a welcome presentation and update on the association’s recent activities.

He informed delegates about XLP’s recent personnel changes, as well as its new focus on increased marketing for members via social media channels. Members learnt of a new format planned for next year’s AGM, which will involve an extra day of meetings and additional group activities.

Attendees also heard presentations from Jimmy Tay, business development executive at WiseTech Global, on how its software –CargoWise – can benefit project forwarders worldwide; Ilya Nefyodov from the commercial department of Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ representative office in Vietnam informed members about the opportunities the carrier can offer for oversize loads; and Kollatt Muhajiz, key accounts/business development at CMA CGM, rounded off the morning with a presentation on the advantages of using container liner services to ship project and breakbulk cargo around the world.

XLP members were also be treated to a memorable journey down the Saigon River with dinner and live entertainment on the Bonsai Legacy Cruise, which was sponsored by the network’s member in Pakistan, Star Shipping.

Other event sponsors include Moroccan member Loadline, South African member C. Steinweg Logistics, and FLS Projects - XLP member in Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Australia, USA, Indonesia and Taiwan.

Gary Dale Cearley, founder and managing director of AIN, told HLPFI: "I am really looking forward to next year's conference, because this year's AGM has seen a record amount of attendees."
