January 11 - Netherlands-based Nooteboom Special Trailers has developed the Quatro TELE-PX Super Wing Carrier - a flatbed extendible semi-trailer designed to transport windmill rotor blades of 50 to 70 metres in length.

The Quatro Tele-PX Super Wing Carrier (pictured below) has been developed as windmills are getting bigger all the time and the majority of existing flatbed trailers are no longer a practical option, according to Nooteboom.

The Quatro TELE-PX Super Wing Carrier has been designed with an extremely low loader floor; which means that transport operators will not have to worry about the transport height when passing under viaducts The Quatro Tele-PX Super Wing Carrier is suitable to travel on motorway networks.

The trailer floor is extendible in four steps from 17 m to just over 63 m. It has been equipped with pendle axles that provide a wider steering angle (60 degrees), significantly more axle travel for extra ground clearance, and added platform stability. Another important factor is the gooseneck - which is hydraulically adjustable - can be fully loaded and driven at any ride height, says Nooteboom.

The Quatro TELE-PX Super Wing Carrier is just one of a range of solutions that Nooteboom provide for the transport of turbines, blades and other equipment for the wind energy industry.
