February 10 - Shipping Australia Limited (SAL) has appointed Captain Melwyn Noronha as general manager technical services and industry policy.
For the past 18 years Noronha has been involved in maritime safety, security, maritime policy and administration in both government and private sectors. He is a master mariner class 1 with seagoing experience which includes master of capesize bulk ships.
SAL's chief executive officer, Rod Nairn, commented: "Captain Noronha brings with him a wealth of practical and maritime policy experience. His knowledge and experience will be invaluable in ensuring that Shipping Australia continues to engage effectively with government and maintains high quality support to our members."
SAL is a shipping industry association dedicated to promoting the interests of Australia's shipowners and shipping agents.
