September 9 - CMA CGM has signed three major contracts on the largest worldwide maritime trades with China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) and United Arab Shipping Company (UASC).

Under the name of Ocean Three, the deals concern the Asia-Europe, Asia-Mediterranean, transpacific and Asia-United States East Coast trades.

The arrangements are a combination of vessel sharing agreements, slot exchange agreements and slot charter agreements, which CMA CGM says will complete its offering on some of the largest maritime markets.

On the Asia-Europe trade, CMA CGM will now offer four weekly services, which complete the two existing services, thereby offering six departures a week.

On the Asia-Mediterranean trade, the agreement will cover four weekly services; two to the Mediterranean, one to the Adriatic and one to the Black Sea.

On the transpacific trade, four weekly services will run to California, while one will serve the Pacific Northwest (USA and Canada).

On the Asia-US East Coast trade, one service will operate via the Suez Canal, while one will be dedicated to the Gulf of Mexico.

CMA CGM said that rotations will be optimised with calls in all the biggest Asian, European and North American ports, using transhipment hubs common to the three partners.

These agreements are pending authorisation from the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC).
