Gantry on the move

Collett & Sons loaded a 100-tonne gantry onto double bogie trailers ahead of a 250 mile (402.3 km) journey from the heavy haulier's depot in Goole to Gatwick, UK.

Measuring 54.8 m long, the gantry is the second of four to head to the project site near Gatwick; the gantries are being installed at the M23 motorway as part of an upgrade programme.

Collett’s Mercedes-Benz 8x4 Arocs SLT led the combination out of the depot, accompanied by the company’s escort vehicles.

According to Collett, the gantry is scheduled for an evening delivery. Motorway closures are in place for the structure to be lifted and installed using a 500-tonne capacity mobile crane.
