July 21 - Peters & May has signed an agreement with the Sharjah Ports Authority, making it the transport provider's primary port of call for the discharge of yachts in the UAE.

Peters & May ceo David Holley explained that the company has been looking to strengthen its position in the UAE for some time, and after a nine-month trial period with Sharjah, handling over 40 yachts ranging in length from 15 m to 45 m, the UK based logistics provider has opted to continue its cooperation with the port.

"Not only have they proven that they can offer the service we require but also a significant financial saving over the traditional UAE discharge ports," added Holley.

Most of the yachts entering the UAE tend to berth in other emirates, said Peters & May, but Sharjah is keen to promote itself as a prime location for visiting yachts.

Sharjah Ports Authority comprises three ports: the multipurpose Port Khalid, container transhipment port, Khor Fakkan, and Hamriyah Free Zone
