July 2 - CSX Transportation was named rail carrier of the year at the 47th annual conference of the Railway Industrial Clearance Association (Rica), taking place this week in Orlando, Florida.

Other winners included BNSF, which received the most improved rail carrier of the year award. Duluth picked up the port of the year prize while Seattle was judged to be the most improved port.

Heritage awards were presented to Lucie Huberdeau of Mammoet and Rick Ford of Kasgro.

Founded in 1969, Rica is over 400 members strong with representation from all aspects of logistics associated with the movement of over-dimensional cargo via rail.

Next year's conference will take place at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
