August 4 - WWL ALS has coordinated the transport of a 95-tonne rotor from Alexandria, Egypt to Belfort in France.
WWL ALS Moerdijk worked together with Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) to organise the delivery of the gas turbine rotor, which measured 13.97 m x 4.01 m x 3.83 m, onboard a WWL ro-ro vessel.
Having been loaded onto a Mafi trailer, the rotor was shipped to Zeebrugge, where it was covered with tarpaulin and lifted onto a barge for delivery to Strasbourg by river. The cargo was then loaded onto a ten-axle trailer for its final journey by road to Belfort.
Marine surveyors were present at both Zeebrugge and Strasbourg to ensure that the rotor was properly balanced, in order to avoid any collisions or damage.
