July 20 - Japanese transport specialist Sankyu has used its Scheuerle self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) to move a prefabricated bridge, weighing around 50 tonnes, through the city of Nagasaki.

Sankyu transported the 40 m long bridge, which was constructed to link the historic artificial island of Dejima with the city of Nagasaki, through the city streets at night, using 12 axle lines of Scheuerle SPMTs.

"Manoeuvring the 40 m long Dejima bridge through the old town of Nagasaki requires experience and precise vehicle control," said Ralf Grützmacher, area manager, sales at TII Sales.

Sankyu is a long-standing customer of the TII Group and currently has over 250 axle lines of the manufacturer's SPMTs in use.
