July 7 - Rail projects planned for Saudi Arabia could bring significant business for project forwarders and shipping lines.

The projects underway for a national network connecting key industrial cities with ports to support investment in new petrochemical plants and growing highway traffic.

National projects totalling SR405 billion (USD107 billion) include construction of a regional railway network with particular focus on a rail link between Jubail and the Port of Dammam, and between Ras Az Zawr and Jubail.

A pre-qualification document has been published which details tendering parameters for interested parties.
