October 28 - The Multilift Group has taken delivery of a side girder deck of unrivalled dimensions, says builder Scheuerle.

For the transportation of increasingly larger generators and transformers, the vehicle has a maximum payload of up to 620 tonnes and was designed and built within a very short time frame. The first transport of a Siemens transformer is scheduled for November 2010.

The STB 1000 side girder deck offers several options for accommodating generators and transformers.

A load can be placed on the top boom using brackets, carried via additional lifting gear with cross beams. The load can also be coupled directly and is able to lift the load without the help of a crane due to the additional support bogies.

The deck has a 38.22m and a length up to 47.22 m which is adapted to suit the required number of axles lines of the platform vehicle combination as well as the size of the load.

The loading width of the side girder deck is continually adjustable from 2.0 m through to 5.2 m allowing for adjustment to match individual loads. The vertical lift of the deck for accommodating the load is 1.6 mm.

The STB 1000 is compatible with Scheuerle's InterCombi series as well as self-propelled modular trailers (SPMTs).

The Multilift Group will deploy the new side girder deck at the beginning of November.
